Spherical probes may be full spheres, hemispherical, or feature rounded tips. They are typically employed for deflection, adhesion, puncture, and cyclic or fatigue testing. Stainless steel spherical probes are available in a variety of diameters.
Cylindrical probes apply compressive force to the sample. They are used to assess compression/recovery, fracture, relaxation, visco-elastic creep, and other product behaviors. These probes are available in acrylic, stainless steel, or aluminum, ranging in size from 2 mm to 76 mm. Custom cylindrical probes with different diameters, thicknesses, and materials can be manufactured upon request.
Conical probes penetrate samples with increasing displacement. In many cases, conical probes propagate cracks and fractures. Stainless steel and acrylic conical probes are available with angles ranging from 15° to 90°.
