What is an extensometer?
Extensometer is a device that is used to measure changes in the length of the specimen in tensile testing machine.
KOOPA extensometer, EX53 model, has a clip-on clamping mechanism which measures its length increase during the test by connecting to both ends of the sample.
EX53 has an aluminum body and hard steel gripping blades, which, with the smooth movement of the bearing along with the high accuracy of the used sensor (1μm), makes it possible to measure the length of the sample with high accuracy.
Application of extensometer
Using this extensometer, the stress-strain curve of the sample can be drawn and parameters such as Young’s modulus, yield point elongation, maximum stress elongation and overall elongation can be obtained.
